Grounding and Introductions Frame the day: Review agenda. Think about what are you hoping to take away today? What are some questions you want to make sure we address today? Record thoughts on the agenda. Put questions on post it notes. Sharing: Name, what you do, why are you here, agenda reflections

History: District Commitment How did we get started? 2012: STEM math and science coaches became a district priority (new state and national standards)

History : What we had to get smarter about *Identify what STEM is *Identify what our coaching should look like: ●Instructional/ Curriculum Specialist - Consulting and Collaborating ●Classroom Supporter - Coaching ●Capacity Builder/Learning Facilitator/ Change Agent (Killan and Harrison, 2006)

Why Coaching Matters What does the research say? (Knight, 2007, p. 1) Coaching influences teacher practice, and some studies have found that coaching also affects student achievement and school culture. (Killion, Harrison, Bryan, & Clifton, 2012) pg. 8

Why Lab Days? *Observational Protocols help teachers envision instructional strategies and pedagogy *Collaboration time and reflection on practice and beliefs (Bennett, 2007) heinemann.com/shared/covers/ pheinemann.com/shared/covers/ png (Sweeney, 2013)
