Reading Sport & Leisure Keeping Healthy & Active

How much physical activity do adults aged years old need to do to keep healthy? At least 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) of moderate intensity activity every week. Moderate-intensity activity will raise your heart rate and make you breathe faster and feel warmer. Examples of activity: Walking Cycling Basketball Tennis Volleyball Gardening (pushing a lawn mower)

Reading Sport & Leisure Reading Sport & Leisure offer sport and leisure venues across Reading, so you are never far from our centres: Meadway Sports Centre Arthur Hills Swimming Pool Central Swimming Pool Palmer Park Sports Stadium We also oversee events and activities in Reading’s Parks & Open Spaces.

Everybody Active Everybody Active is a sport and physical activity programme for adults with disabilities. The programme offers various weekly sessions and one off events throughout the year in a supportive and friendly environment. Information:

Activities at Meadway Sports Centre Boccia & Multi Sports is a great session to enjoy some weekly sporting activity – Wednesdays, pm. Gym sessions are an opportunity for people to come along and train with their helpers and to meet with friends – Tuesdays, – 1.15pm.

Activities at Palmer Park Stadium Everybody Active Cycling sessions are very popular and take place in the velodrome at Palmer Park Sports Stadium. We have a range of adaptable bikes which are ideal for disabled users. Carers must attend these classes. Places must be booked in advance.

Reading Walks Reading Walks Community walking scheme is aimed at getting more people in Reading Walking. This scheme is a great way to meet new people and improve health. A new walking officer is being appointed and a number of new walks will be set up for people to access and enjoy.
