Theme: ParaNorman

Norman’s mother does not want her son to be affiliated with her strange uncle, Mr. Prenderghast.

 Associated or connected

It was difficult for Norman to ascertain exactly why Aggie was killed by the townspeople.

 to find out

For Norman to find a friend his own age (not to mention one that is alive) was something of an attainment.

 An accomplishment, the act of achieving

Mr. Prenderghast bequeathed the responsibility of containing the witch Aggie to his great nephew, Norman.

 To give or pass on as an inheritance

Accoring to Neil, the fact that his allergies make his eyes leak, he sweats when he walks too fast, he has a lunchbox with a kitten on it, and he has Irritable Bowel Syndrome provides a cogent reason for kids to pick on him.

 Forceful, convincing  Relevant  To the point

The zombies converged on town hall, looking for Norman as their last, best hope for removing Aggie’s curse.

 To move toward one point, approach nearer together

The ghosts that Norman would speak to were dispersed throughout the town.

 To scatter, to spread far and wide

Norman’s sister, Courtney, certainly held Neil’s brother, Mitch, in high esteem.

 To regard highly  A highly favorable opinion or judgment

Aggie wanted to expunge the town for how the townspeople had treated her.

 To erase, obliterate, destroy

Maybe Neil should make sure his meals were finite rather than continuous.

 Having limits  Lasting for a limited time

No matter how the townspeople attacked them, the zombies seemed to be invulnerable.

 Not able to be wounded or hurt  Shielding against attack

Though they seemed to be initially, the zombies were not malevolent and meant no harm to the humans.

 spiteful, showing ill will

Though he attempts to appear nonchalant, Mitch is petrified of the zombies.

 cool and confident, unconcerned

Since he can talk to the dead and learn things they do not, Norman’s family and others view him as omniscient.

 knowing everything; having unlimited awareness or understanding

Norman’s mother believes that if only Norman would talk to a therapist, it would be a panacea for all of his “problems.”

 A remedy for all ills  Cure-all  An answer to all problems

Norman’s teacher wanted him to pay scrupulous attention to how she delivered the lines from the school play.

 Exact, careful, attending thoroughly to details  Having high moral standards, principled

Alvin would skulk through the hallways, looking for Norman to pick on.

 To move about stealthily  To lie in hiding

Alvin’s supercilious behavior towards Norman and Neil did not impress Courtney.

 Proud and contemptuous  Showing scorn because of a feeling of superiority

Norman’s uncanny ability to speak with the dead is at the heart of the story in ParaNorman.

 Strange, mysterious, weird, beyond explanation

Mitch is not very intelligent, but that is venial considering how faithful to and protective of his brother he truly is.

 Easily excused  Pardonable
