La Tarea para JUEVES, el 24 de octubre de 2013: (Homework for THURSDAY) In class on Thursday, we’ll review what we did in class, today (Tuesday). I’ll provide a warmup worksheet you can do in pairs. Then, we’ll have a quiz covering all the work from October 10 th -22 th. Download the worksheet underneath this presentation on the TAREA page and complete it. Bring your completed worksheet to class! This is what to review: Telling time in Spanish by going to the PowerPoint presentation, “La Hora,” at the top of the “Toybox” (“Caja de juguetes”) page, on the Spanish Program Blog. Navigate to the “Toybox” page the following way: On the menu bar at the top: Spanish Classes > SPA 131 > SPA 131 “Caja de juguetes”. Practice, too, with Sierra’s PPT presentation on telling time. Come on Thursday being able to say what time it is… (with good fluency): Por ejemplo: Son las tres y media de la tarde – 3:30pm. ALSO, be able to say at what time you do different activities. (Click on the link to the worksheet: Por ejemplo: Yo escribo mi tarea a las cuatro y cuarto de la tarde – 4:15pm. After you’ve learned how to tell time, using the “La Hora” presentation, go back to the homework for Thursday, October 10 th and use the slides in that PPT as flashcards to help you. Learn what the definite and indefinite articles are and do the two quick worksheets to test how well you know them. (See last three slides.)

La Tarea para MARTES-JUEVES, el de octubre de 2013: (Homework for TUESDAY…THURSDAY) Read and study p. 22, ¡Acción! This section is good review for what we learned, today, in class: Estoy hablando; estás comiendo; María esta corriendo; nosotros estamos leyendo; ellos están viviendo, etc. Review how to conjugate regular –AR, -ER, -IR verbs in the present tense. Fill out these boxes to help you remember: -AR verbs: (hablar, caminar, trabajar, etc.)-ER verbs: (comer, correr, etc.) -IR verbs: (escribir, vivir, etc.) YoNosotros TúVosotros Ud.Uds YoNosotros TúVosotros Ud.Uds YoNosotros TúVosotros Ud.Uds

SUGGESTIONS FOR HOW TO LEARN VOCABULARY: On a piece of paper, write the Spanish words you need to learn in one column. Write the English definitions next to the Spanish, in the next column. Then, fold your paper so you cannot see the English definitions. Try writing the English without looking at your book. For those you miss, “cheat” and look at the English you hid from view when you folded your paper. Keep folding the paper, drilling yourself on the English and the Spanish, until you have learned the words well. Then, REPEAT the same exercise, but holler out the definitions. (Don’t forget to “cheat” and look at the original sheet you used to write out all the Spanish and English words!) This works really well! You should be able to learn a list of 25 words in around ten minutes!
