Scotch ® Stretchable Tape 8886 Specially formulated, high strength stretch film coated with pressure sensitive adhesive 650% stretch with ST1000 tape head –500m roll = 3250m of stretched tape Strength increases when stretched –Tensile strength of 28 lbs/in (40 lbs/in stretched) Adhesive detackifies (no damage to cartons) Elongation at breakage of 720% Specially formulated, high strength stretch film coated with pressure sensitive adhesive 650% stretch with ST1000 tape head –500m roll = 3250m of stretched tape Strength increases when stretched –Tensile strength of 28 lbs/in (40 lbs/in stretched) Adhesive detackifies (no damage to cartons) Elongation at breakage of 720%

3M ™ Stretchable Tape Wrapper ST1000 Wrapping equipment specifically designed for Scotch ® Stretchable Tapes Powered pre-stretch head provides 650% stretch – increases the containment strength AND creates a very cost-effective system Return-to-start turntable Fold-down mast for easy transport Galvanized base assembly Ten custom wrapping patterns 4400 lb capacity Powder-coat paint finish Controlled using a programmable operator interface panel Uses photo-eye to detect different load heights

3M ™ Stretchable Tape Wrapper ST1000 Wrapping Patterns (customized) –The multi X pattern provides the best load stabilization for road freight applications –Corner over-wrapping is used to secure top layer of cases creating maximum holding power –Banding is used ‘in house’ providing adequate load containment with minimum tape

Scotch ® Stretchable Tape Advantages Provides ventilation Provides stability Requires less space Preserves carton integrity Minimizes disposal costs Reduces material costs Reduces overall waste Increase productivity Provides effective load containment High load holding force- less vibration

Applications Cartons with holes Cool to cool (fresh produce) Hot to ambient Cool to frozen Sterilization / fumigation Any loads that require or benefit from ventilation In-house banding for storage racking and safe movement Companies with waste reduction targets

Customer Benefits Cost reduction (cooling cost, waste disposal, less food spoilage) 100% load stabilization Significant waste reduction by volume Faster chilling time (by more than 50%) Eliminates fiberboard carton collapse from hot load packaging condensation Removes requirement for edge protectors Elimination of load sweating prolongs life of produce Load containment at point of production eliminates double handling

Applications Fruit –Apples and pears –Manually applied stretch film with corner posts, took 10 minutes to wrap pallet, labor and time were issues –3M solution wraps pallet in a minute. Loading containers for export shipment (24 pallets) took 1.5 hours with stretch film and now minutes with stretchable tape system. With column stacked pallet, boxes tend to spread out at top of pallet and stretchable tape contained and stabilized load better than stretch film –60 pallets per day

Applications Vegetables –Tomatoes –Applied stretch film by hand and had condensation because of stretch film, high labor and material costs –3M solution allowed removal of edge protectors at $0.50 per post ($2.00 total) and labor reduction of one person. Less handling and quicker cooling of product with no condensation –20 pallets per day (over-wrapping on corners)

Applications Dairy –Yogurt –Applied stretch film and product was not cooling efficiently –3M solution reduced waste, allowed product to cool quicker (from 59°F to 36°F- no condensation), and bar codes were able to be read easier with stretchable tape on pallet versus stretch film –500 pallets per day

Applications Dairy –Eggs –Applied stretch film automatically and had damaged boxes due to condensation, pallet per cost at $0.65, netting to expensive and caught on truck gates and doors –3M solution removed condensation issue and lost product due to damage cartons, cost is actually at $0.75 per pallet –30 pallets per day

How should Stretchable Tape be viewed? Stretchable Tape is a problem solver, and currently not a lower cost alternative to Stretch Film Stretchable Tape is a product designed to strike at the weaknesses of Stretch Film and Netting Our greatest potential for success is in those applications where Stretch Film and Netting have vulnerability

When is Stretch Film not the Answer? Ventilation (load needs to breathe) - agriculture, vegetable wholesalers, produce, dairy When items are packaged hotter/colder than room temperature; condensation can then form that will damage the integrity of the product or of the packaging When the customer has source reduction needs

When is Stretch Film not the Answer? When loads have sensitive processing environments (temperature or other) in which the load needs exposure to outside air; examples meat processors, medical sterilization products Stretchable Tape will provide cost savings for applications in which customer uses netting, corner board posts, lock n’ pop glue

Limitations of Netting Cost of Product Difficulty in handling the product Lower yields due to lack of stretch/ elongation Netting causes problems for tow motor operators- gets stuck on tires Concern with load stabilization

3M ™ Stretchable Tape Load Containment System Significant waste reduction 100% load stabilization Provides the stability you want with the ventilation your products need in a simple to use solution
