next   back Purpose of the New Technology Allow unit officers to maintain personnel rosters and unit capabilities accurately to improve accountability Aid ECC with better information to create more accurate dispatch recommendations Provide Incident Commanders accurate and immediate lists of all personnel assigned to their incidents

next   back Objective At the completion of this presentation you will know how to use the new Personnel Roster and Accountability tools. Note: Quick Reference Sheets are available for all personnel. You are not expected to be experts after one PowerPoint presentation.

next   back Updating the Unit Roster with an MDC

next   back MDC Unit Roster Overview Use the MDC to change the following:  Personnel IDs  Unit Capabilities  Response Areas  Portable Radio IDs Note: These may be changed individually or in any combination. The following slides separate the tasks.

next   back MDC Unit Roster: IDs and Positions Change IDs and adjust riding positions:  Click or press the 1RST button on the MDC toolbar.  Wait for the current unit roster to appear.  Tab to the ID field you would like to change. (Note: Name boxes are display-only.)  Type in the appropriate Fire ID or scan the person’s ID card bar code. (Tab and repeat as needed to fill in other positions.)  Repeat for other personnel and press the Enter key.

next   back MDC Unit Roster IDs and Positions Notes:  Press the 1RST button again to display the updated information.  Confirm that all the information is accurate.

next   back MDC Unit Capabilities Change the Unit Capabilities:  Click or press the 1RST button on the MDC toolbar.  Wait for the current unit screen to appear.  Press the Tab key enough to move to the first capabilities box. A pick list will appear.  Choose a capability. Continue to tab and add capabilities as needed.  Confirm all the information is accurate.  Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

next   back Deleting Names and/or Capabilities Delete Existing Data:  Press the 1RST button to bring up the roster update form.  Delete the data you would like to remove (e.g., name and/or capability).  Repeat as needed.  Press the Enter key to process the form.  Note: As with XPTB, you will know the Enter key was successful if your screen reverts to the previous screen.

next   back PAR Options Retrieve Unit Rosters from the MDC by:  Unit  Dispatch Group (Incident)  Name

next   back PAR: Unit ID Retrieve a Unit Roster by Unit ID:  Click or press the 3PAR button on the MDC toolbar.  Wait for the Personnel Accountability screen to appear.  Press the Tab key on your keyboard to move to the Unit ID field.  Type in the Unit ID and press the Enter key on your keyboard.  Wait for the resulting screen to appear.

next   back PAR: Dispatch Group Retrieve Unit Rosters by Dispatch Group:  Click or press the 3PAR button on the MDC toolbar.  Wait for the Personnel Accountability screen to appear.  Press the Tab key on your keyboard to move to the Dispatch Group field.

next   back PAR: Dispatch Group Continue with these steps:  Type in the dispatch group and press the Enter key on your keyboard. (Note: For incidents involving alternate talkgroups such as 7G, the talkgroup designation may be used instead.)  Wait for the resulting screen to appear. The list of all units and all personnel assigned to the incident along with their status will be displayed.

next   back PAR: Future Functionality (FYI) The dispatch screen has been changed to include a talkgroup. Future functionality calls for the incident talkgroup (e.g., 7G) to be included on the dispatch screen. When this new feature is implemented into dispatching, Incident Commanders will be able to query unit rosters for their specific incident.

next   back PAR: Individual Name Retrieve a Personnel Roster using an individual’s name:  Click or press the 3PAR button on the MDC toolbar.  Wait for the Personnel Accountability screen to appear.  Press the Tab key on your keyboard to move to the Last Name field. Type in the individual’s last name. (Note: The name must be spelled correctly to retrieve a roster.)

next   back PAR: Individual Name Continue with these steps:  Press the Enter key on your keyboard. The Unit Roster of the unit to which that person is assigned will be displayed.  Wait for the resulting screen to appear.
