Problem/Question Does the texture of the surface affect the distance the car travels? Does the texture of the surface affect the distance the car travels?

Hypothesis If we use aluminum foil as our surface, then the car will travel the farthest. If we use aluminum foil as our surface, then the car will travel the farthest.

Control Variable Control Variable Ramp Ramp Three books Three books Measuring tape Measuring tape Foam Foam Sand paper Sand paper Aluminum foil Aluminum foil Bubble wrap Bubble wrap

Materials Ramp Ramp Foam Foam Sand paper Sand paper Aluminum foil Aluminum foil Bubble wrap Bubble wrap Car Car Measuring tape Measuring tape

Procedures 1. Set up the ramp using three books 2. Set up measuring tape on the floor 3. Apply different types of surfaces: foam, aluminum foil, bubble wrap, and sand paper 4. Put the car on the ramp and let it go 5. Measure the distance the car travels on each surface and record the results on the data chart

Results

Conclusion Our prediction was wrong. The car that was on the foam surface traveled the farthest.
