Is the predicted verb base form of "to“, we can use the infinitive for:  As subject, talking about a concrete fact, for example: To leave now would be a mistake.  Behind verbs like, for example: agree, choose, hope, promise, want… I want to go to the cinema.

 Behind some adjectives and adverbs, for example : happy, tired, slowly, fast… I’m happy to be with you.  Behind the indirect complement of verbs like: teach, persuaded, advise. She teaches me to learn English.

Is a term used to refer to various non-finite verb forms.  As subject, for speaking about the facts in general. Learning is eassy for some people.  As direct complement of some verbs. For example: love, enjoy, hate, miss… He missis going to the cinema.

 Behind prepositions. I think about the possibility of going to New York.  Behind than some verbal forms. For example: can’t help, feel like, get used to, spend… We spent the morning playing tennis.

Verbs like begin, propose, forbid, intend or start can go with gerund or infinitive and mean the same thing. I started to use/using the computer four years ago. Other verbs as stop, remember, regret and forget aren´t the same when followed by a gerund or infinitive.

 Stop + gerund: means leaving a habit. I will stop smoking in the new year.  Stop+infinitive: means interrupt the action to start another. I stopped to smok when you called me.  Remember+gerund: refers to something past. I don’t remember talking to her before.  Remember+infinitive: Looking to the future and used to tell someone something we consider important. Remember to go to the hospital.

 Regret+gerund: means complain of something past. He regrets breaking up with Helen.  Regret+infinitive: announcing bad news. I regret to tell you that we can’t accept your proposal.  Forget+gerund:used in negative phrases to indicate the impossibility of forgetting something that happened in the past. I will never forget visiting the Eiffel tower in Paris  Forget+infinitive: forget to do something. I forgot to tell you.
