Defensive Alignments This is how we communicate where defenders are aligned. Single Digit - Defensive Lineman Double Digits - Linebacker’s

Offensive Run Alignments Offensive Line Vertical Splits: Guards - Ear hole of helmet to hip socket of the Center. Tackles - Ear hole of helmet to ear hole of the Guard. Tight Ends - Ear hole of helmet to ear hole of the Tackle. Horizontal Splits: Center/Guard split - 3 Feet Guard/Tackle split - 3 Feet Tackle/TE split - 3 Feet

Triple Option Follow (Give-Keep) 6 Triple Option Follow (Give-Keep)

Why run Triple Follow? Go Get ‘em downhill play Good for quarterback who struggles pitching ball Able to utilize personnel in a Triple Option attack Physical QB Good blocking TE Strong side of Line Role players at running back (able to train) Still allows two phases of triple option Good versus any front (doesn’t matter where #2 and #3 are located in Triple Option count) Great Short Yardage Play Great Unbalanced Play

Triple Follow Backfield Rules PS Slot- C Gap insert, block linebacker to safety BS Slot- Motion through navel of fullback and block Overhang. Don’t block #2. Fullback - Attack the center of Tight Guard, meshing with QB. Hug the Double Team block of the C & TG or TG & TT. You need to beat 2nd level defenders. QB - Step to 5/7 o’clock meshing with Fullback while reading 1st defender from a “4” out. Get your 2nd step down ASAP. YOU ARE GIVING THE BALL EVERYTIME, UNLESS #1 ATTACKS FULLBACK FLAT DOWN LOS. After the 1st mesh take steps 3 and 4 quickly. Mesh with the H and read the overhang defender for a Give/Keep decision. Overhang is widest defender. SE- Backside Cut-off

Triple Follow O-Line & SE Blocking Rules Y (Tight End) -block first man from 4 out Tight Tackle - 1st PS Inside LB. Guard Covered = Combo/Double Team, Odd = T Step Bracket Stack Lber with Slot Tight Guard – Covered = Combo/Double Team with Tackle Uncovered = Vertical Lber to Backside Pursuit never chase . Center – Block half the play side A gap. Versus a PS “2” and you have an OFF or OVER, it’s a TRIPLE TEAM to the second level. Never chase a LB(NCL). Split Guard - BSP Split Tackle - SAW (BSP when game planned) X – Split : Backside Cut-off.

Triple Option Follow (Give-Keep) vs. 3-4 vs. 3-4 Block safety as overhang… If backside Safety Runs with motion and/or Playside Corner not good tackler

Triple Option Follow (Give-Keep) vs. 4-3 vs. 6-1 (Safety Overhang)

Triple Option Follow (Give-Keep) Vs. 3-3-5 Vs. 3-3-5 (Free Safety Overhang)

Triple Option Follow (Give-Keep) Vs. Bear Vs. Bear (YAZ Block) YAZ= Y and Z go inside Allows for double team on 3 tech Good vs. Mac Scrape

Reads Cutback & Alley Runs When to use… PS Guard can Single Block 2/3 Technique PS Guard and Tackle Can Combo 2/3 to Mac Linebacker When to use… PS Guard cannot Single Block 2/3 Technique Aggressive ILB or Free Safety
