#13: Judas – Dying For A Kiss

 Woman pepper sprays other shoppers to grab a video bargain.  11 year old trampled and hospitalized due to frenzied shoppers.  Long Island worker trampled to death by out-of-control bargain hunters.

 The danger of greed  John 12: But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said, “Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?” Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.

 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs….

 Hebrews 13:5a – “Make sure that your character is free from the love of money….”

 John 17:12 – “While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.”

 What did Satan do?  Luke 22:3 – “And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, belonging to the number of the twelve.”

 John 13:2 – “During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him….”

 Matthew 26: Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, named Caiaphas; and they plotted together to seize Jesus by stealth and kill Him. But they were saying, “Not during the festival, otherwise a riot might occur among the people.”

 Matthew 26: Then one of the twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What are you willing to give me to betray Him to you?” And they weighed out thirty pieces of silver to him. From then on he began looking for a good opportunity to betray Jesus.

 John 18:2 – Now Judas also, who was betraying Him, knew the place, for Jesus had often met there with His disciples.”

 Matthew 26:20-21,25 – “…Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples…He said, “Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me.”  v. 25: “And Judas…said, “Surely it is not I, Rabbi?” Jesus said to him, “You have said it yourself.”

 Matthew 26:24 – “The Son of Man is to go, just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born.”

 Luke 22: While He was still speaking, behold, a crowd came, and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was preceding them; and he approached Jesus to kiss Him. But Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”

 Matthew 27:3 – “Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders….”

 Matthew 27:5 – “And he threw the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself.”

 Acts 1:18 -- (Now this man acquired a field with the price of his wickedness, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his intestines gushed out.”

 2 Corinthians 7:10 – “For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.”

 1 Timothy 6:6-8 – “But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment. For we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either. If we have food and covering, with these we shall be content.”

 “Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, ‘I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you…” Never AL
