STOP…LOOK…LISTEN Matt. 10:1-15; Luke 6:12-16 – What is authority? (consider John 19:10; Lk. 5:24; Lk. 7:8) – What sort of authority did Jesus give His apostles? – What were the apostles to do if a town wouldn’t listen to their teaching? – Read 1 Cor. 14:37. Whose commandments did Paul preach? – If I quote from the U.S. Constitution, I am making up new laws? – If the apostles stated the commands Jesus gave them, were they making up new laws? – Read Gal. 1: What was the source of Paul’s doctrines? – Read 2 Cor. 10:8 and 13:10. What was the source of the apostles’ authority, and for what did they use it?

STOP…LOOK…LISTEN John 14:16-21; 15:26-27; 16:12-15 – If you were an apostle, how would you feel if Jesus told you He was going to leave you? – Who is the Helper Jesus promised the apostles and how would the Helper help them? – Read 1 Cor. 2:7-13. Who chose the words that the apostles spoke? – Did the Holy Spirit give them specific words, or just ideas that they explained as they understood them? – Read 2 Tim. 3:16-17 and 2 Pet. 1: What does “inspired” mean?
