LIBRARY Guide for parents BILINGUAL LIBRARY ’ S RESOURCES The collection of the resources of our library is, at the moment, of about 21,000 titles and this includes books, teaching manuals, CDs and cassettes, audiobooks, video tapes and DVDs, children’s magazines and storysacks. The fiction books are marked by labels of different colours according to the language of the book : ENGLISH FICTION – blue label ITALIAN FICTION – yellow label SPANISH FICTION – orange label FRENCH FICTION – green label The MULTICULTURAL or MULTILINGUAL books are marked with specific labels RESEARCH BOOKS (numbered and labeled according to the Dewey Decimal System). The books are all accessible and of easy-taken for children, while on the highest and lowest shelves there are boxes of resources linked to the ‘units of inquiry’ (topic boxes), or most favourite authors, traditional tales, and Reading Schemes books, addressed to children that are learning to read and Twin books (one fiction book and one research book linked to the story), etc. The books contained in boxes and on the shelves are easily recognizable by the specific labeling and the picture related.

We would like to invite all our parents to come and join of this great resource. Parents can visit the library during the opening times and at the end of the school day, within their children. LOANS LIMITS Early Years section / Elementary & Middle school : 5 books Parents : 3 books Loan period : 2 weeks LOST OR BROKEN BOOKS POLICY We would like to remind our community – students, parents and teachers – of the importance of having books circulating within our school community and, for this reason, please remind to give books back in the library when the loan period is over. The resources of the library need to be maintained in good conditions for always improving the circulation of books Within the community of play English & The Bilingual School of Monza. BOOK FAIR, WORLD BOOK DAY & BOOK WEEK The school organizes, in collaboration with some important school events, a Book Fair, to give parents the possibility of buying new and selected books in English and Italian. During these events, parents can donate used books in good condition from their children to the library. Every year the school community celebrates the ‘World Book Day’ and the ‘Book Week’, in which children are involved in funny and original book related activities, addressed to each age group. During these events, èarents are warmly welcome to come in their children’s classroom to read a book or tell a story. Taking part at these initiatives, you will improve your child’s interested in reading MULTIMEDIAL AND ITC CENTRE Close to the library there is the Multimedia and ITC Centre of the school, equipped with : 10 computer with internet access to make research and the library database programme Coloured printer Photocopy machine Interactive whiteboard and projector
