Internet Subscriptions – International Comparisons (some definitions first) The following statistics are from the International Telecommunications Union ( via Wikipediawww.itu.int Fixed line broadband –High speed fixed (wired) access to the Internet, eg, cable modem, DSL, fibre, etc. –Some fixed broadband subscription rates may seem low – but that’s because a single subscription may be shared by multiple people. Mobile broadband –High speed mobile access to the Internet, eg, mobile phones and portable modems (PC cards, USB modems, dongles, wireless modems). –Some mobile subscription rates may be greater than 100% - because a single person may have more than one subscription.
