“Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.

“Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

“There is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days.” —Daniel 2:28

“And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided;

“The admixture of clay and iron in the feet is the mixture of the church of Rome with the tem- poral states of Europe—‘the Popes of Rome mixed them- selves with the Emperials,’

“For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe [Noah] entered into the ark,

“And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them.

“And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed:

“The dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.”

“Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and wor- shipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.
