_link_parameter_report Enhancement to MIH Link Parameter Change Primitive To facilitate upper layer handover decision making, it is important that an MIH user can effectively monitor certain link layer parameter values and their changes. For architectural flexibility, three valid design approaches should be supported: 1.MIH user uses a poll command to get a report of the link parameters: - use MIH_Poll primitive 2.MIH user sets a threshold on a link parameter and the link sends a report when the link parameter crosses the threshold: - use MIH_Configure and Link_Configure_Thresholds to set up the threshold - use Link_Parameter_Change and MIH_Link_Parameter_Change (definition still missing) to report the values and changes. 3.MIH user asks the link to send a parameter report periodically: - currently no primitive can support this Solution: Enhance the current MIH Link Parameter Change primitive to support periodic parameter reporting
_link_parameter_report MIH Link Parameter Change primitive already supports the following capabilities: Can be triggered when a particular parameter crosses a pre-set threshold; Report parameters for any links (serving and potential links) (clarify?) Reports the current value of a list of parameters (clarify?) The primitive can be used either by the terminal or by the PoA/PoS (clarify?) The primitive can be local and remote. We propose to add one new capability to support the timer-based link parameter report: Can be also triggered on a regular basis determined by a configurable timer (new enhancement) We also suggest to change the name of the primitive to MIH Link Parameter Report and propose its baseline text in Enhancement to MIH Link Parameter Change Primitive (cont.)
