NetDMR Training for KYG4E and KYG4W

NetDMR General Information Step by step NetDMR information for all KPDES permits is available at : http://water.ky.gov/permitting/Pages/netDMRInformation.aspx Or web search for KY and NetDMR. This document details specific DMR entry instructions for KYGE4 and KYGW4 permits, which may also apply to Coal Mining Individual Permits. Both ICIS and NetDMR are environmental data gathering and reporting tools that EPA has recently implemented. These tools are changing the way the SWPB operates and will impact how you operate as well

When to Begin NetDMR DMR submittals using NetDMR begin with coverages under KYG4W and KYG4E. Example: Coverage letter issued December 15, 2014. Sampling requirements of the new permit begin January 1, 2015 DMR submittal using NetDMR begins with the January 2015 DMR, with a due date of February 28, 2015. Both ICIS and NetDMR are environmental data gathering and reporting tools that EPA has recently implemented. These tools are changing the way the SWPB operates and will impact how you operate as well

How to Apply Alternate Precipitation Effluent Limits (APELs) APELs are provided to account for precipitation influenced samples only. See section 4 of the permit for application rainfall volumes and type of discharge. If the rainfall reported on the precipitation parameter does not meet the rainfall requirements listing in section 4 of the Coal General permits, use of APELs to adjust DMR report will result in a violation. APELS only impact Total Suspended Solids, Settleable Solids, Total Recoverable Manganese and Total Recoverable Iron monitoring requirements and limits. You must provide the rainfall amount for the sampling event that was precipitation influenced. Season 1 = 1st monthly sampling event, Season 2 = 2nd monthly sampling event. Never leave a required parameter blank- you must either provide a VALUE or a No Discharge code. Blank parameters are an automatic violation for failure to report a required parameter or value. If APELs are not being used for on the DMR, enter No Discharge code 9 for Settleable solids and Precipitation parameters. Both ICIS and NetDMR are environmental data gathering and reporting tools that EPA has recently implemented. These tools are changing the way the SWPB operates and will impact how you operate as well

How to Enter TSS, SS and Precipitation To enter TSS and Settleable Solids results when sampling is not impacted by precipitation (No APELs required), enter the average and maximum TSS values, enter NODI 9 for Settleable Solids and Precipitation Seasons 1 and 2 (sample 1 and 2) Both ICIS and NetDMR are environmental data gathering and reporting tools that EPA has recently implemented. These tools are changing the way the SWPB operates and will impact how you operate as well

How to Enter TSS, SS and Precipitation If the first sample of the month was rainfall influenced, enter TSS and Settleable solids average and maximum (may be the same value for average and maximum), and adjust the number of samples to the correct number. Enter precipitation volume for the first sampling event on the Season 1 precipitation volume, and NODI 9 for the Season 2 precipitation. Both ICIS and NetDMR are environmental data gathering and reporting tools that EPA has recently implemented. These tools are changing the way the SWPB operates and will impact how you operate as well Note- if both sampling events were impacted by precipitation (APELs for both sampling events), enter NODI 9 for TSS and the average and maximum Settleable Solids, and Precipitation values for Seasons 1 and 2 (sample 1 and 2).

How to Enter Manganese and Precipitation If the first sample of the month was rainfall influenced, enter Manganese average and maximum (may be the same value for average and maximum), and adjust the number of samples to the correct number. Enter precipitation volume for the first sampling event on the Season 1 precipitation volume, and NODI 9 for the Season 2 precipitation. Both ICIS and NetDMR are environmental data gathering and reporting tools that EPA has recently implemented. These tools are changing the way the SWPB operates and will impact how you operate as well Note- if both sampling events were impacted by precipitation (No APELs required), enter NODI 9 for TSS and the average and maximum Settleable Solids, and Precipitation values for Seasons 1 and 2 (sample 1 and 2).

How to Enter Manganese and Precipitation If both monthly samples were rainfall influenced, enter NODI 9 for manganese. Enter precipitation volume for both sampling events. Both ICIS and NetDMR are environmental data gathering and reporting tools that EPA has recently implemented. These tools are changing the way the SWPB operates and will impact how you operate as well

How to Enter Selenium Results for selenium in the discharge water are entered each month for parameter 00981. If the selenium results for the PREVIOUS month were <5 micrograms/L, fish tissue samples are not required for the CURRENT month and NODI 9 (conditional monitoring not required) should be entered for Selenium, dry weight, parameter 01148. Both ICIS and NetDMR are environmental data gathering and reporting tools that EPA has recently implemented. These tools are changing the way the SWPB operates and will impact how you operate as well

How to Enter Selenium Results for selenium in the discharge water are entered each month for parameter 00981. If the selenium results for the PREVIOUS month were >5 micrograms/L, fish tissue samples are required for the CURRENT month and should be provided for parameter 01148. Failure to provide results by the DMR due date, or fish tissue results >8.6 mg/l will result in a violation of effluent limits. Both ICIS and NetDMR are environmental data gathering and reporting tools that EPA has recently implemented. These tools are changing the way the SWPB operates and will impact how you operate as well
