Fourth Grade School-wide Enrichment K’nex Challenge

PROBLEM: Cleaning dishes is a tough chore because of all the scrubbing and how much time it takes. SOLUTION: Scrubbing the dish: The machine that scrubs the dishes has a wheel which acts like a sponge. When the wheel is replaced, the sponge will turn to scrub the dishes. Rinsing and drying: A box supports a gear that turns for water to sprinkle out. Another gear works as the dryer. Conveyer belt: A bicycle chain, spur gear and crank drive the machine. Later, the machine will take the dish to the rinsing and drying machine.

Problem: Our problem was turning off the alarm clock in the morning. Solution: We built an electric machine that can only work if you have an outlet next to your bed. You plug it in and the worm gear spins the gear which makes a stick spin and hit the alarm clock. Turning off your alarm clock could never have gotten so much easier.

This contraption is called the Sibling Stopper 260. We suggest this for annoyed siblings both old and young. It stops siblings from invading your room. This is useful because if a sibling comes into your room and you don’t want them, the Sibling Stopper 260 will tell you if they came inside. The contraption will only work if you or someone else works it. When you turn the crank, you must have a ball on the pinion. The ball goes up and gets passed onto the next pinion which is passed on to the scooper. The scooper pops the ball up and sends it across the 1 st platform. From there, the ball goes down the 2 nd platform, across the 3 rd platform, down the 4 th platform and then lands in the bucket, which makes a loud racket and distracts the sibling from their original mission. The gears spin with the bicycle chain and that activates the machine. We’ve had many problems, but despite them, we completed our invention.

Our problem is turning off an alarm clock. Problem: When you are tired in the morning and you don’t feel like getting up to turn the alarm clock. What do you do? Solution: You just crank the handle and it moves the gears and the gears move this stick that hits the solution.
