Resistance Documentation Pogrom Jungmadel Meetings Tolerance Freedom Behind The Bedroom Wall By:Laura E. Williams Setting Exposition Rising Action Climax Falling Action Resolution

Resistance Resistance is secret organization that fights for national freedom. This relates to my book because the Rehme family resisted by hiding Jews to save them. Home A resistance group fighting back to the people that are against them.(Non-violent protest)

Documentation A documentation is a piece of writing. Korinna and her friends during school would write in their “Black Book”. The Gestapo found out about Korinna writing that her parents were traitors to Germany and that they were the enemy inside her book. Home A old document from the Holocaust used to show special concepts.

Pogrom Pogrom is a planned campaign of persecution of a ethnic group. This relates to our book because Korinna always sees officers walking the streets and she has to be careful. Also the Pogrom catches the Rehme family hiding Jews. Home This is a pogrom that just captured a group of people.

Jungmadel Meetings Jungmadel meetings for young girls to talk about Hitler and what is happening in Germany. The relation to our book and this is that Korinna goes there with her friends Rita and Eva which causes kind of a conflict with all of the friends. Home A group of young girls at a group meeting.

Tolerance Tolerance is someone or something serving someone or something else in their will. The Rehme family served the Krugmanns, a Jewish family, to help them survive. Home A server serving food to be tolerant.

Freedom Freedom is important to everyone because you need freedom to follow what you believe. Korinna and her family both believed that everyone should have equal freedom. Home American Flag showing freedom of our country.

Setting The setting of this book is located in Germany and around the time Korinna and the rest of her family live there. They live in small yellow house with secret rooms.Which comes in handy later on in the story. Home Germany, 1942 Korinna’s House

Exposition The exposition is when Korinna and two of her friends Eva and Rita are walking home from their weekly Jungmadel meeting, when they see a friendly, innocent man being beaten and taken away by the Gestapo in front of his family. The next day she finds out why. Home

Rising Action The rising action is at the end of chapter three when Korinna first found out about the two Jewish girls Sophie and Rachel living behind her wardrobe. Her emotions are scattered about in her head as she was trying to figure out what is right and what is wrong. Home

Climax During the climax the Gestapo comes to Korinna's house at night, twice in the story. The first time they come they found nothing, but leave suspicious. Once they come back the second time the Gestapo are super suspicious, and once again find nothing, except now they found a huge hole behind wardrobe were Sophie and Rachel once lived. The Gestapo thought the hole was a "Shrank", because Korinna filled the walls with photographs, newspaper clippings, and articles that had to do with Hitler. Home

Falling Action In the falling action Sophie and Rachel are reunited with Sol,( Sophie's husband and Rachel's father.) They are so happy to finally see each other again, but so sad because there was only three fourths of their family together. Rachel's 14 year old sister Ruth died of pyromania, once Rachel first found out about Ruth's death she never wanted to color again. Home

Resolution During the resolution Korinna's family is forced out of their home, or they'd be killed. When their leaving Korinna realized that freedom is perhaps more important than love. After all, if you're not free to love whom you wish, what good is love?(quote from author, Laura E. Williams.) Home
