2 Background Southern Gas Networks have been repairing leaks in Merton High Street over a number of years resulting in disruption to both the general public and local business We are investing £700,000 in replacing an ageing system for a more reliable and safer system as part of a National replacement programme This new system will be a new plastic pipe with a minimum life of 80 years.

3 Phase 1 Work started in October 2009 in Kingston Road from The junction of Montague Road to the Junction of Merton Road We anticipate to complete this phase of works by January 2010

4 Phase 1

5 Phase 2 Pincott Road to Hayward Close Works to start December 2009 Open trench in Carriageway and lay 180mm Carry out connections and transfers Duration of works to complete phase 2 4 weeks

6 Phase 2

7 Phase 3 Merton Road to Hamilton Road Start of Phase 3 18 th January 2010 Carry out open trench in carriageway and lay in 355mm Carry out connections and transfer/relay services Phase 3 to commence January 2010 and will take 4 weeks to complete Traffic management to suspend Right hand turn for Buses and divert buses down Montague Road

9 Phase 4 Hamilton Road to Nelson Road Start Phase 4 15 th February 2010 Open Trench carriageway and lay in 355mm Carry out connections and transfer/relays Traffic management will be kept to two way traffic with parking suspension. Duration of phase 4 to complete 6 weeks

11 Phase 5 Nelson Road to Haydons Road Start of Phase 5 29 th March 2010 Open trench carriageway and lay 355mm Carry out connections and relays/transfers and carry out large diameter cut and cap Duration of Phase 5 to complete 6 weeks

13 Phase 6 Morden Road to South Wimbledon Junction Start of Phase 6 & 7 10 th May 2010 Open Trench in carriageway and lay in 500mm Carry out connections and relays/transfers Traffic management will be lane closure maintain two way flow Duration of phase 6 & 7 to complete 17 weeks

15 Phase 7 South Wimbledon Junction Start of phase 7 in conjunction with Phase 6 Open trench in junction carry out connections Traffic Management 3 way temporary lights with Merton Road as a one way road with no access via South Wimbledon Junction Buses diverted via Montague Road Duration to complete phase 6 & 7 17 weeks

17 Phase 8 Haydons Road Junction Merton High Street Start Of Phase 8 September 6 th 2010 Carry out Connections and Abandon Main Traffic Management 3 way Temporary Lights Duration To complete Phase 8 10 weeks
