Balfour Bea~y Scoring the 6 Main Standards Jim Kirk FCQI CQP

Balfour Bea~y Introduction The 6 Main Standards are –ISO 9001 –ISO 9004 –ISO –ISO –OHSAS –OHSAS Also included in the scoring are 5 Company Standards –BB Group Health & Safety Policy –BB Group Environmental Policy –BB Group Expectations for Managing Health & Safety –BB Group SHE Standards –BB Group Framework for Risk Management

Balfour Bea~y BB GAP BB GAP is the acronym for the Balfour Beatty - Group Audit Protocol. The objectives of BB GAP are: To provide assurance to the Balfour Beatty Board and to OpCo management teams that SHEQ is being managed effectively To maintain certification to OHSAS 18001, ISO and ISO 9001, as a by product of the BB GAP audit process To encourage and assess progress beyond certification, and to facilitate benchmarking.

Balfour Bea~y What does BB GAP encompass? The protocol comprises of 14 elements 1 – Leadership 2 - Organising for SHEQ 3 - Customer Focus 4 - Design Management 5 - Risk Management 6 - Operational Planning & Control 7 - Competence Management 8 - Supply Chain Management 9 – SHEQ Communication & Consultation 10 – Documentation 11 - Measurement and Monitoring 12 - Accidents and Incidents 13 - SHEQ Audit 14 - Continual Improvement

Balfour Bea~y How are these audited? Questions are statements that are converted at audit into questions. Number “The organisation has set out its vision for achieving quality goals and objectives” Becomes "Has the organisation set out its vision for achieving quality goals and objectives?”

Balfour Bea~y How are these scored Each question is weighted as to its importance For example "Has the organisation set out its vision for achieving quality goals and objectives?” is scored out of a total of 20 points –Not Evident (0) –Partly Evident (5) –Evident (10) –Mostly Evident (15) –Fully Evident (20)

Balfour Bea~y The scoring rational – frequency questions

Balfour Bea~y Other question types This is a “Yes / No” type question and can score 5 for each “yes”

Balfour Bea~y Guidelines & Auditor instructions for questions For most questions BB GAP gives guidelines and auditors instructions;
