Creative Arts K-6 Syllabus Using the syllabus for consistency of teacher judgement © 2006 Curriculum K-12 Directorate, NSW Department of Education and Training

Foundation Statements Foundation Statements in the Creative Arts set out a clear picture of the knowledge, skills and understandings that each student should develop at each stage of learning. They encompass syllabus outcomes, content and scope of learning in Creative Arts. The Creative Arts Foundation Statements now replace Stage Statements in the Creative Arts K-6 Syllabus.

The Creative Arts K-6 Syllabus is organised in two main sections: Outcomes for each artform from Early Stage 1 to Stage 3 Content for each artform from Early Stage 1 to Stage 3

What parts of the syllabus do you draw on to inform your teaching? Foundation Statements guide planning and programming for each artform and provide a basis for assessing, reporting and discussing student progress. Outcomes and indicators for each artform identify knowledge and understanding and skills that students will demonstrate as they engage with content. Content outlines what students will learn to do and learn about in each artform.

What do you draw on to inform your assessment? Assessment strategies The evidence is drawn from both the processes and finished works Evidence also includes what students say and write about their own works and others' works
