Drunk driving Ana Patricia Quijano

The three main responsible ways to prevent drinking and driving would be to hide your keys or give them to a friend if your going to drink, ride with someone who you know will not drink and do not drink if you have to drive.

To be a responsible designated driver : Plan ahead whenever you are going to socialize with alcohol beverages.

Decide ahead of time who will not drink any alcohol before or during the party or event.

Consider taking turns being the designated driver (Look after your friends and family and they can look after you)

Larger groups should have more than one designated driver.

Offer alcohol free beverages and make sure all guest leave with a sober driver.

Don’t let your friends drive impaired. Take their keys away from them if you must!

If you have been drinking and find you do not have a designated non- drinking driver, call a taxi.

If you're hosting a holiday party where alcohol will be served, remind your guest to plan ahead and designated their sober driver.

Make sure repeat drunk driving offenders are wearing electronic devices such as ankle bracelets at all times. Furthermore, all repeat offenders should have to install ignition interlock instruments (IIDs) in their vehicles.

Ways to Stop Drunk Driving Understand Why Drunk Driving Destroys Lives Learn the Facts about Drunk Driving Be a Responsible Host Report Drunk Drivers Be a Leader

Please Don't Drink and Drive If everyone chose to be responsible and never got behind the wheel of car drunk, 1,029 more people would be alive in this world. You probably didn't hear about the more than 1,000 accidents or the lives they claimed - many of them innocent. But it is important to know that the consequences of drinking and driving are deadly.

Drunk driving fatalities calculated all traffic deaths last year to be 32% which equals on average to someone being killed in an alcohol impaired driving crash is about every 30 minutes in the U.S.

Drinking and driving don't mix. An alcohol- related motor vehicle crash kills someone every 30 minutes and nonfat ally injures someone every two minutes.

How does alcohol affect a person's ability to drive? The more a person drinks, the more their ability to make crucial driving decisions becomes impaired. After just one drink, a driver can begin to lose their ability to perform the tasks necessary to drive a car; braking, steering, changing lanes, and using judgments to adjust to changing road conditions. At a certain point, a driver will become legally intoxicated and can be arrested for attempting to operate a motor vehicle.

What does DUI and DWI mean? DUI means "Driving under the influence" of alcohol or drugs. DWI means "Driving while intoxicated." These terms are used by police. In every state in our country there is a legal limit to how much alcohol you can have in your body if you are driving. If you drink and drive, you can lose your driver's license and even go to jail.

Other ideas to prevent drunk driving It's no secret that drinking and driving has been an ongoing issue in the U.S. Over the years people and organizations have offered many ways to prevent drunk driving. Possible solutions include educating children and teens about the dangers of drunk driving at an early age and an increase in TV commercials or public service announcements warning people about drunk driving.

What can you do about drunk driving? Your best defence against a drunk driver is to wear your safety belt, make sure any children in the car are in child safety seats. Never ride in a car operated by someone who has been drinking. Call a cab or ask a friend (one who has not been drinking) to drive you home.

Report drunk drivers to law enforcement from a car or pay phone.

Keep a safe distance from anyone driving erratically.
