Being available for work To be available for work means: To be registered at the job centre (jobnet.dk) as unemployed. Have an approved cv on jobnet.dk Check the job propositions every seventh day Being a resident in Denmark Being able to take a job on short notice Actively applying for jobs, you are qualified for Participate in the meetings and interviews MA or the job centre invites you to. Participate in the activities, contained in the job plan you make with the job centre, and actively seeking work MA assesses and determines your availability for work.

Job search and availability You must apply for jobs every week. MA recommends, that you apply for several jobs every week. Your job search must be realistic. This means, that you must be qualified for the jobs you apply for, that you must make yourself available for jobs you can manage, and that you must do what you can to find work. If there isn’t enough job openings within your profession you must apply for jobs outside your field. You must be available for any job you are able to do. Change your strategy on a regular basis. Widen your scope. You must use all channels for your job search: advertised jobs, unsolicited job search. Use your network and your contacts. You must apply for full time positions - even if you have a part time job. You must primarily apply for jobs in Denmark. Applications for jobs abroad count as a supplement. Applications for ”virksomhedspraktik” and ”løntilskud” do not count.

Aktivering – work activity scheme Internship Max four or eight weekes Public or private sector Full time Unemployment benefit Subsidiced job in public sector After 26 weeks Max four months 37/32 hours per week Wages = unemployment benefit Subsidiced job in private sector After 26 weeks Max six months Full time Normal wages. Appr. 73 DKK per hour in subsidy Written agreement with your job center. If you have a part time job – 20 hours or more per week. Activation is not compulsory NB: Different job centers have differents ways of adminstering it.

Opportunities Job med løntilskud: subsidised job (public/private) – aktivering Virksomhedspraktik: Trainee programme – aktivering Courses (as part of Job Plan) (e.g. Danish Lessons) – aktivering Job seeking abroad – take your dagpenge (unemployment benefits) to another EEA country (max three months) in order to look for a job Workshops at MA.
