October 3, 2006 PARAPET TERMINALS 1 This slide series addresses post spacing and barrier terminal issues. Bright coloration of the following slides is provided to help the viewer define the aluminum barrier components.

October 3, 2006 PARAPET TERMINALS 2 Rear view of aluminum parapet terminating into A concrete, F-Shape barrier.

October 3, 2006 PARAPET TERMINALS 3 Traffic view of aluminum parapet terminating into A concrete, F-Shape barrier. Traffic can be from either direction. Partial view to rear. Four holes at 1½” diameter are drilled through face of rail to expose the clamp bar cavity. CLAMP BAR PROFILES ARE SLID INTO THE RAIL ELEMENTS, EPOXY SET ANCHORS ARE INSTALLED INTO THE CONCRETE BARRIER.

October 3, 2006 PARAPET TERMINALS 4 Rear view of aluminum parapet terminating without A concrete, F-Shape barrier. This detail applicable ONLY to the EXIT end of a barrier installation, and then only when no other barrier or obstacle would be encountered by the exiting vehicle. Post spacing shown here is 50 inches except end post which is 18 inches. Post spacing shown here is illustrative. Actual spacing is determined by site evaluation.
