Becoming a Leader Worth Following

Finding Balance Life without balance can cost you. Mark 8:36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, but lose your own soul. Balancing your personal life with your professional life is KEY to sustaining your motivation. If you loose your balance, you loose your motivation.

It can cost you your: Your Relationships Your Health Your Spirituality Your Wealth Your Happiness

Fuller Seminary did a 10 year study and Found: 100% had a friend who had left the ministry because of burnout 90% stated they are frequently fatigued on weekly and even daily basis 89% had considered leaving ministry at one time 77% felt they did not have a good marriage 71% stated they were burned out and battle depression beyond fatigue 38% were divorced 30% had been in an ongoing affair or had a sexual encounter with a church member

Finding balance is a discipline we must learn, balance between: Work hard and Play hard Quiet & Loud Solitude & People Technology & Simplicity (TURN YOUR PHONE OFF) Learn to be STRONG but not IMPOLITE Learn to be KIND but not WEAK Learn to be BOLD but not BULLY Learn to be HUMBLE but not TIMID Learn to be PROUD but not ARROGANT Learn to develop HUMOR without FOLLY

BECOMING A LEADER WORTH FOLLOWING MEANS DEVELOPING YOURSELF If you want to be a leader who attracts quality people, the key is to become a person of quality yourself. Leadership is the ability to attract someone to the gifts, skills, and opportunities you offer as a leader. Work harder on yourself than you do on your job. We don’t get paid for the number of hours we work, we get paid for our value. BECOME more valuable. SUCCESS IS NOT SOMETHING YOU PURSUE, SUCCESS IS SOMETHING YOU ATTRACT BECAUSE OF THE PERSON YOU BECOME.

The question is NOT What am I getting here, the question is What am I becoming here? How are you becoming better person? If you SEEK you will FIND, but it’s important to know that finding is reserved for the seekers. We don’t find what we need…we find what we search for. Being a LEADER is Being a READER. Words nourish the mind, words nourish the soul Positive reinforcement: learning that there are rewards for doing something good, worthwhile and of value. The better you do the better your reward.

BE WHERE YOU ARE AND CHOOSE WHERE TO BE Learn to spend 80% of your time as a leader with the 20% who deserve it. Spend individual time with 20% and Group time with 80% YOUR time is as valuable as you CHOOSE to make it - Col 3:23 Whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as unto the Lord, and not just for man.

It is so important to know what a good use of your time, and what is a waste of your time. Focusing on the negative is a waste of time. In fact it is often a massive error in judgment. DON’T CHASE THE BIRDS, IT’S MUCH MORE IMPORTANT TO STAY IN THE FIELD. If we are not careful, we can become problem solvers instead of leaders. Nehemiah was tested by others to come down from building to explain things to them. He refused and said ,”I cannot leave the task at hand to argue and explain to you.”

Setting compelling goals We take more time in planning a vacation than we do for our life. What are your goals? Any goal is a powerful motivator if there is a powerful reason behind it.

Ask yourself these questions: What do you want to do? Who do I want to be? What do I want to see? What do I want to have? Where do I want to go?
