Quality points are assigned based on the difficulty level of the course. Quality points range from 5 for Advanced Placement courses to 1 for courses which have been modified for students on Individual Educational Programs (IEPs). 5 = Advanced Placement Course2 = Standard Course 4 = Honors Course1 = Modified Course 3 = College Preparatory Course Students selecting honors level courses are expected to demonstrate advanced proficiency in subject area skills. Students are also expected to have a strong work ethic, a desire to work independently, and the self-motivation to meet high learning expectations. Students selecting college preparatory level courses have a strong desire to matriculate to a four year college or university. Students are required to engage in activities incorporating higher level thinking skills as identified in the specific subject area. Students selecting standard level courses have a post-secondary goal of furthering their education either academically or through a technical experience. Performance expectations include successfully meeting subject standards as identified in the Massachusetts Frameworks.
