Mechanical AST5300 is a wet / wet differential pressure transmitter Compatible with liquids or gases on both the high pressure and low pressure process connections Metals that will come into contact with the liquids and gases are 316L and Inconel x750
Mechanical Uses LVDT technology A rod is connected to a corrugated diaphragm and moves up and down as the pressure changes LVDT’s are one of the oldest, yet most accurate sensor technologies in the world To learn more, visit: utorial.html utorial.html
Mechanical In order to protect against extreme over pressures, the main sensor body features an over-travel stop, so the diaphragm cannot extend beyond its normal operating conditions. The current design offers a 1500 PSI maximum line pressure across both process connections. If pressure is applied to one port first, it is recommended that pressure is kept below 500 PSI. See the datasheet for further details if pressure exceeds 500 PSI.datasheet
Mechanical The standard Process connection is 1/4" NPT Female. The upstream pressure is marked “H” and the downstream pressure is marked “L”. You will notice a hole above the H and below the L. These are cleaning ports meant only for operation at the factory. The process connections also have a miniature sintered filter. If the customer requires a new filter, they can contact the factory.
Mechanical The combination of the LVDT and the diaphragm has the following benefits: Eliminates oil-filled cavities Operates at colder temperatures No risk of process contamination as with an oil filled sensor Over pressure protection on either side prevents field failure
Electrical The AST5300 is based on the same electronics platform as the AST46HA family, using a digital ASIC to calibrate and program the transmitter over pressure and temperature. The AST5300 is programmed over pressure and temperature to remove inaccuracies. Standard output signals are available: V ratiometric, 1-5V, 0-5V, 4-20mA

Who Will Need It? Differential pressure transducers are commonly used for flow monitoring and filtration systems. Given the hazardous area approvals, the AST53ED or AST53EN are a natural fit for oil and gas applications. From filtration to flow monitoring, the AST5300 can be a cost effective alternative.
Who Will Need It? Non-hazardous environments, such as water and hydraulic fluid filtration systems can also be an excellent target for the AST5300, given the turn-down ratio of the line pressure to the DP range. Sealed tanks such as cryogenic liquid tanks, measure level using differential pressure transmitters. AST can provide the added service of cleaning the product to Praxair GS-38.
How do customers benefit? Price Reduction in the number of expensive 5-way valves Operating temperatures No Contamination
How much is it? Standard pricing is published on the price sheet. OEM business is our ultimate goal and the price sheet reflects our capabilities for higher volumes.
What is the lead time? Lead time is dependent on the quantity. AST has sub-assemblies in stock to manage prototype order quantities. For 100 pc releases, the first release could be 10 weeks.
