Presentation transcript:

How do you calculate the total magnification?

Multiply the magnification of the eyepiece times the magnification of the objective lens.

How carry the microscope?

Hold the arm with one hand and hold the base with the other.

What is the job of the diaphragm?

The diaphragm changes the amount of light.

What is the purpose of the stage clip?

The stage clips hold the clip in place.

What is the difference between the fine adjustment knob and the coarse adjustment knob?

The coarse adjustment knob is used to focus with the low-power objective lens and the fine adjustment knob is used to focus with the high-power and medium-power lenses

What are the settings of the microscope when you first approach it?

The stage should be all the way up and the objective lens should be on low power.

What’s the difference between a wet mount and a dry mount?

A wet mount has water.

When making a wet mount what angle do you drop the cover slip at???

45 degrees

How much does the high power objective lens magnify???

40X

Which knob moves the body tube to focus the high power objective lens???

Fine adjustment knob

The____ supports the microscope.

base

What does the coarse adjustment knob do?

Moves the body tube for focusing with the low-power objective lens.

What does the fine adjustment knob do?

It moves the body tube slightly for focusing with the high-power objective lens.

What do you hold with one hand while holding the base with the other hand while carrying the microscope?

The arm

The stage………..

Supports the slide being used.
