Student Centre Project

Presentation structure History Initial exploratory analysis General info The process outline – 1year – 5 year Risk analysis

The property case acts as a breeding ground for ideas.. May-June 2011 a new round of reconciliation is explored between KY and AYY – ”If the disputed funds cannot be agreed upon, could they somehow be pooled and used to serve the university and it’s academic community?” A list of ideas is formulated, one which imagines a co-constructed student building

Reconciliations drop - the student centre idea is left intact By the end of 2011, the reconciliations are dropped. Teknologförening (TF) joins the discussions at the end of the year A three-way communication is established and continued in the beginning of 2012

Why a new construction? Initial exploratory analysis and general info

Building the Aalto City

1.Divided office solution is not best for the student union 2.Long run office space costs need alternative solutions 3.Current association space is limited and hard to expand (growth limits) 4.The campus population is growing (+2800 new students by 2015) 5.Aalto is currently in building state and the environment very supportive
