1.Fred has never played chess before. Cassie is an expert chess player. However, when Fred sits down opposite Cassie at the chess board, Fred wins easily. How can this be? 2.A man’s body is found hanging in a room. The rope, which is 4 feet long, is attached to a beam 13 feet from the floor. The man is 6 foot tall. The room is empty, apart from a puddle on the floor. How did the man attach the rope to hang himself? 3.Jensen crashes his car into a wall. The car is badly damaged, but Jensen has no injuries at all. What’s more, he laughs about the crash as soon as it happens. Why?

A florist has three boxes of flowers. She knows that one box contains roses, one contains carnations and the third contains a combination of the two. Somehow, the boxes have all been incorrectly labelled. She is in a rush. She needs to know which box is which by pulling just one flower from one box. Which one should she try and pull a flower from? RosesCarnationsBoth

1. Fred and Cassie are playing draughts, so Fred's inexperience at chess is not relevant. 2. There was a large ice block in the room. The man stood on it to attach the rope to the beam. The ice has since melted. 3. Jensen is driving a remote controlled car. 4. The florist has to try and take a flower from the 'both' box. Regardless of what flower she pulls out, she will know that it is the 'both' box because she knows that all the boxes are incorrectly labelled. Once she establishes which is the 'both' box, she can just swap the labels on the other two boxes as there will now only be two variables. Clear?
