Statistics: Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten. It is said that women mostly get abused within the family. Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help. In 2000, 1,247 women were killed by an intimate partner. Annually in the United States, 503,485 women are stalked by an intimate partner. Of the women between the ages murdered each year, 30% are killed by their husband or boyfriend. s.org/domestic-violence- statistics>.

Types of Abuse:  Physical: Biting, kicking, punching, slapping, burning, shoving, etc…  Sexual: Force into sex acts, sexual assault, and rape.  Emotional: Repetitive and excessive criticism, Humiliation and degradation  Threats: Intention to harm you, friends, and family, or take child away from you.  Economic: steal your money or control it.  Destruction: mess up your personal items.. com/?p=568

Effects: both physical and verbal abuse had a greater number of depressive symptoms. are at increased risk for psychological problems. develop an anxiety disorder, a mood disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, or an eating disorder.

More Effects: Self blame : believed the abuse is somehow their fault. Physical signs and symptoms: experience anxiety, tension, low energy, depreesion, insomnia, change in appetite and physical aches and pains such as headaches. Shame: feel ashamed of what's happened Low self-esteem and lack of confidence Anger: experience difficulty in expressing anger related to their abuse. Fear: their abuser will repeat his or her abusive behavior. Isolation from others: may withdraw from social activities, friends, or family. Self-regulation and hyper- vigilance: some women may restrict or modify their words or actions. Avoiding social situations: may avoid activities and social situations that might bring her into contact with her former abusive partner..

Many women are scared for their lives because of the abuse they receive on a daily bases. Usually they can not turn to anyone for help or if not they get ignored. Theses women need help and their voices heard. WE NEED TO STOP WOMEN ABUSE!!!!
