Mobile App = Top 5 Student Requests through Support “I would love to see an app from you guys. I need to connect to the internet to view the lecture. For me, it is not possible to get internet connectivity when I want to view the video lectures. Can it be possible that you provide an app where I can download the video lectures or the course content for offline use later?”” ~ Student from India “…if you could provide an app for mobile devices would be greatest!, I think that the app could have a better behavior in 3G environments. “On-the-go” access  ONLY mode of access Globally: Mobile internet access has surpassed PCs in developing countries. Domestically: 34% access internet primarily through Smartphone. Rises to 45-65% among ethnic minorities or those with less education / income. (Pew research) Overall: 77% of all mobile Google searches take place at home or work where PC access is available. (Google study)

Current Workflow (Charter members teams) 1.Create YouTube channel 2.Create finished YouTube video export 3.Create Alternative playback / download export (.webm and.mp4) 4.Upload video to YouTube 5.Upload video(s) to alternative hosting platform (AWS S3) 6.Collect and manage YouTube links and alternative/download links 7.Post YouTube links and Alt/download links into video element Export YouTube video file Create YouTube Channel Export Alt/downl oad video file Upload video to YouTube Upload video to AWS/S3 Collect/ manage YouTube /S3 links Post link(s) into studio

Updated Workflow (Charter Members steps) 1.Create YouTube channel (through YouTube CMS) 1.Submit finished video file to upload page 1.Take edX ID and post to Video unit (“Advanced” tab) edX transcodes Video and pushes to YouTube and S3 Copy edX ID Paste edX ID into studio video unit Upload finished video file to edX in Studio

Here is a screenshot of where you would find this field using the ADVANCED tab. Paste the edX ID into its designated field and click the “Save” button. That’s it. You’re done. Workflow Step 4:
