Using Windows Live Movie Maker DO NOT USE WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER 2.6!!!

Before you even load Windows Live Movie Maker Gather all your pictures, videos, and audio files – Make sure you save them all in one folder. If I was you, I would them to myself and then save them to my space on the network or just save them all in one spot on a flash drive…that you won’t lose. – For your audio files, it would be wise to have one audio file for each term/concept.

When you load up Windows Live Movie Maker this is what the home screen will look like. You will want to start the whole process by adding your media to the open space on the right. You can either drag and drop the media or you can click the “Add videos and photos” button up top. Note that you cannot add voice recordings or any audio files until you have pictures or videos first.

You will use the home screen for most of your work. You can edit your pictures and add any additional effects that you may need. You can also add a caption to the picture on this screen. You can add captions to both videos and pictures.

If you choose to add a caption you will be taken to a screen that looks like this. You can edit the caption in this location. You can choose the amount of time the caption will appear and select exactly how you want it to look.

If you click the Photo Tools button on the top of the toolbar you will find a screen that looks like this. In this screen you can edit the length of time that your picture is shown in the movie. This will be helpful as you attempt to match up any audio with your pictures.

Many people will use a title screen to separate their terms. To add a title screen click the button on the toolbar.

You will then be brought to this screen where you can add any effects and determine what you want to write and how you want your title screen to look. You can also identify the amount of time you want the screen to be displayed. Be careful as you set the amount of time needed for each title screen. Some people may also use a title screen as you play any explanatory audio prior to a video clip.

If necessary you can edit videos in this screen. You can rotate videos or add special effects to them. You can also add captions to your videos in this screen too.

When editing a video you can control the speed of the video playback as well as the volume of the video sound. It would be helpful to control the sound of the video if you wanted some other audio recording to play over a video you have taken. Additionally, you can edit the length of the video clip in this menu.

Adding Audio NOTE: You cannot add any audio unless it is associated with some sort of visual (i.e. pictures, videos, title slides) Once you add the audio by dragging and dropping it on top of the visual you want it to play with you can then edit the audio. In this screen you will find all your audio editing tools.

Audio files link: converts audio files to mp3 which can be imported into movie maker.
