George Washington HE WAS THE FIRST PRESIDENT. HE HAD TWO ENEMIES. THOMAS JEFFERSON JAMES MADISON

George Washington GEORGE WASHINGTON LISTENED TO HIS SECRETARY OF TREASURY. ALEXANDER HAMILTON. HE WANTED A NATIONAL BANK.

George Washington THOMAS JEFFERSON AND JAMES MADISON BELIEVED THE CONSTITUTION DIDN”T SAY THE NATION COULD HAVE A NATIONAL BANK. THEY BELIEVED IN A STRICT INTERPRETATION OF THE CONSTITUTION.

George Washington A strict interpretation is like a tight rope on a horse. IT LIMITS THE HORSE’s movement. WITH STRICT INTERPRETATION THIS MEANS THE GOVERNMENT IS LIMITED LIKE A HORSE>

GEORGE WASHINGTON ALEXANDER HAMILTON BELIEVED IN A LOOSE INTERPRETATION. LIKE A LOOSE ROPE ON A HORSE. A Loose rope makes the horse strong or the government strong.

George Washington ALEXANDER HAMILTON BELIEVED THE CONSTITUTION’S ELASTIC CLAUSE/NECESSARY AND PROPER CLAUSE ALSO CALLED IMPLIED POWERS SAID CREATE WHATEVER YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE OTHER LAWS ARE ARE CARRIED OUT.

GEORGE WASHINGTON GEORGE FAVORED HAMILTON AND DIDN”T LISTEN TO MADISON AND JEFFERSON.

GEORGE WASHINGTON WHISKEY REBELLION. A REBELLION NOT TO PAY TAXES in Western Pennsylvania. Instead of hauling grain, whiskey was easier to haul than grain and more valuable.

George Washington Putting the rebellion down showed the national government could control situations. GW believed two things when he left. Political parties were a danger to split the country. Country shouldn’t ally with other countries.

George Washington Jefferson was so mad at George, he quit being his Secretary of State and moved overseas.

JOHN ADAMS WAIT! THE SUPREME COURT DOESN”T HAVE THIS POWER YET!

JOHN ADAMS JEFFERSON AND MADISON COME UP WITH A SOLUTION NO, THEY COME UP WITH THE VIRGINIA AND KENTUCKY RESOLUTIONS

JOHN ADAMS THESE SAY. A STATE CAN DECLARE A FEDERAL LAW UNCONSTITUTIONAL OR AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION.

JOHN ADAMS THIS IS CALLED STATES’ RIGHTS THEORY! ONLY ONE PROBLEM!

JOHN ADAMS THE OTHER STATES DON’T GO ALONG WITH IT! THEY DIDN”T WATCH THEIR BACK! CRUD!
