Presentation transcript:

By: Monique Cheatham October 15, 2012

 You get to create your own schedule and rules; no boss  Sell whatever kind of merchandise that you wish  Your business doesn’t depend on where you live; don’t need to live in a certain area  Creates more jobs for others  Choose your own employees

 Get to work outdoors (forest)  Get to study wildlife  Steady salary  Average yearly salary $63,000 (middle class)  Help preserve our forests and wildlife

 Small Business Operator: Personal Finances, Economics, Statistics  Fish and Wildlife Technician: Zoology, Ecology, Earth Science, Biology

 Small Business Operator- If I choose this career I will more than likely attend college at the University of Oregon due to their advanced business program. The tuition cost for this school is about $8,789 not including the cost for each class also excluding the cost of living.

 Fish and Wildlife Technician- If I decide to pursue this career I will attend college at Oregon State University because of their great science and agriculture programs. The cost of tuition for this school is $7,600. That’s not including costs for courses or living expenses.

My top schools of choice for each career  Small Business Operator: University of Oregon which is in Eugene, OR.  Fish and Wildlife Biologist: Oregon State University which is in Corvallis, OR.

 Small Business Operator: When deciding to become an entrepreneur you don’t necessarily need to go to college to do so. I on the other hand, am very determined to got o college and major in entrepreneurship. I would aim to get a bachelors degree which would take four years.  Fish and Wildlife Biologist: Requirements include a successful completion of a full four- year course of study in a University leading to a bachelors degree or higher. This also includes a major field of study of 24 semester hours of an appropriate combination in education and experience.

 You don’t have a steady pay check  Very risky  Salary ranges from $38,500 and $91,440  Have to fire people from time to time  Very stressful; a lot of responsibility  Also, I will most likely attend college at the University of Oregon

 Have to work with dangerous animals  Work in harsh weather  For a bigger salary I may have to move further away from home than I would like

 While deliberating on the occupations and weighing the pros and cons of the two, I believe that the best career choice for me would be to become a Fish and Wildlife Biologist. It would be much more reliable as well as fun and interesting for me. It would also make more sense to attend OSU which has been my dream since I was young.
