How does Elie’s father die? He dies of dysentery. He is also beaten by both prisoners and an officer.

How long did the train ride to Buchenwald take? The trip to Buchenwald took 12 days.

How have Elie’s feelings about God changed since his captivity began? In the beginning, Elie had great faith in God. He believed that everything would be alright. As the book progressed, Elie lost faith in God and couldn’t understand why he let these horrible things happen to the Jews.
