Introduction to Agricultural Science and Technology

Objectives DDefine the chapter terms on an exam with 90% accuracy. EExplain and identify the parts of a chop saw on quiz with 90% accuracy. CCompare the uses of the chop saw to other saws on an exam with 90% accuracy. DDemonstrate the safe/proper use of a chop saw in a laboratory activity with 100% accuracy.

Safety  Safety glasses and gloves required Hearing protection is optional  Wear protective clothing  Put hair in a ponytail  Cut through metal SLOWLY!!!

More safety  Make sure saw blade is properly rated for abrasive cutoff saw  Make sure everyone is clear of the machine  Make sure saw blade is not cracked  Make sure metal is secured

Last bit of safety  Keep hands clear of blade  Metal will be hot after cutting  DO NOT work on machine while it is plugged in

Review  What is an abrasive cutoff saw?  What are the two types of abrasive cutoff saw blades?  What are the correct safety techniques to use in the laboratory?  What are some major parts to an abrasive cutoff saw?
