History Of Computers By Alexandra Carabajal

Computers Computers were not just invented one day to another, it was a process that started as a Abcuss and is now a a device that can do so much stuff, like save data communicator with others have apps and so much more.

3000 BC Abacus: The abacus was the first calculator. It was invented in Babylonia. The Abacus helped people make “computations” by moving the beads around.

500BC Pingala is one of the bases of computers. It is a system that created binary numbers. Binary numbers are a code. The number 0 and 1 are two of the numbers used for the code.

87BC Antikythera mechanism was a mechanical computer used to calculate astronomy positions.

724 Liang Ling-Can It was the first mechanical clock. It was created in china. This invention was very important because later computing was invented by using the same technology from the contraptions of gears and springs of the Liang Ling- Can

1623 Calculating Clock was invented by Wilhelm Schickard created the first mechanical calculator. It was as big as a type writer but it was impressive in its time.

1822 Analytical Engine invented by Charles Babbage is considered the “father of computer”. He was the one that originated the idea of programmable computers.

1835 Morse code was invented in This code was a way to communicate text information with on and off tones, lights and clicks. This technology helped to later inventiones.

1937 Alan Turing was a computer scientist that came up with allot of concepts that helped to get to our modern computers. Turing is considered to be the father of computer science and artificial intelligence.

1938 Konrad Zuse created the first programed controlled turning on computer. That was called Z3. He also made the S2 the first prosed controlled computer.

1939 Atanasoft-Berry Computer was the first electronic digital computer invented. It was not programmable and it only solved linear equations. This invention helped to modern computing.

1946 F.C. Williams developed his cathode-ray tube (CRT) storing device the forerunner to random-access memory (RAM)

1947 Donald Watts Davies and Alan Turing build the fastest digital computer in England the Pilot ACE Douglas Engelbart comes up with the idea of key borders and screens instead of punch holes.

1949 Howard Aiken develops the Harvard-MARK III. Harvard- MARK was an important creation because it was partially electronic and partially electromechanical.

1962 The first computer game Spacewar Computer Game was invented by Steve Russell & MIT

1963 Douglas Engelbart invents and patents the first computer mouse

1964 IBM introduces the first word processor. Word processor helped edit and type your printing material.

1967 IBM creates the first floppy disk that help store information and save it.

1971 was invented by Ray Tomlinson this is an invetion that is still used today

1973 Personal computer The minicomputer Xerox Alto (1973) had allot to do with the development of personal computers

1975 Altair produces the first portable computers The Microsoft Corporation was founded April 4, 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen

1976 Apple Computers was founded Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs

1986 More than 30 million computers are in use in the United States the number of people using computers is incressing

1990 Tim Berners-Lee and Robert Cailliau propose a 'hypertext' system that starts modern Internet

1994 and 1995 Yahoo is created Java: Java is introduced Amazon: Amazon.com is founded by Jeff Bezos EBay: EBay is founded by Pierre Omidyar Hotmail: Hotmail is started by Jack Smith and Sabeer Bhatia

1998 Google is founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page on September 7, 1998

2011 Computers are now on our phones iPods, I pads, and more. Computers have evolutions from being military use only to everyone's use.
