Drawing Class
This is a big project, worth 150 points This is not something you want to rush through This is our final still-life; show me everything you’ve learned
Range of values, attention to size (proportion), detail, blending, composition
Drawing Ability Full range of values (think back to your value scales) Attention to detail Proportion Composition No dark outlines around objects Clean paper – no smudges, bent edges, etc. No “ghost lines” from pressing too hard Effort Craftsmanship
Begin by choosing your composition Lightly draw the objects onto the paper using a regular pencil – this should take a lot of time! Sketch in where the shadows are Double-check that everything is the right size and in the right position Begin shading using the black and white colored pencils – remember, go slowly and layer
Continue putting in values – really pay attention to how light and dark the objects are Shade in the shadows Make sure you have a full range of values Put in any details you notice – you may want to use hatch/cross-hatch, stipple, and scumble Put your full name in the lower right corner Capitalize your name, because you’re a proper noun Hand in to the appropriate shelf
