Presentation transcript:

Some years ago, at the Seattle Special Olympics, nine participants with physical or mental deficiencies, took position for the 100 meters track run. At the signal they all started, although not really at full speed, but with the will to give the best of themselves, finish the course and win. All, with the exception of one young man that stumbled, fell down and started to cry. All, with the exception of one young man that stumbled, fell down and started to cry.

The other eight heard the cry, slowed down and looked behind. Then they all stopped and went back. One girl, with Dawn Syndrome, bent and kissed the runner, and told him: “Get up. You will be all right.”

Then the nine competitors joined hands and walked towards the finish line. The full stadium stood up and the applause lasted for several minutes. The people who witnessed that event still retell the story today.

The athletes were, perhaps, incapacitated, but surely they were sensible persons. is to help each other to go on, even if it means to slow down or even to change direction. Why? Because deep down we all know what really matters in life, more than being a lonely winner… A Blessed Easter to All!
