Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration

Photosynthesis Is the process by which plants convert energy from the sun into food

In Photosynthesis The plant’s chlorophyll takes energy from the sun combines it with carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and water from the plant To create glucose (carbohydrates/food) and oxygen

Chemical Formula for Photosynthesis The plant’s chlorophyll uses sunlight, carbon dioxide and water to make oxygen and glucose (food). Sunlight + 6CO2 + 6H2O = 6O2 + C6H12O6 Carbon Dioxide oxygen water glucose (carbohydrates/food)

Cellular Respiration is the process by which the a cell combines oxygen with glucose (carbohydrates/food) and releases water, carbon dioxide and energy (ATP).

Chemical Formula for Cellular Respiration 6O2 + C6H12O6 -->  6H2O + 6CO2 + energy glucose (carbohydrates/food) oxygen water Carbon Dioxide

Photosynthesis and Cellular Repiration are like OPPOSITES Photsynthesis Sunlight energy + 6CO2 + 6H2O = 6O2 + C6H12O6 Cellular Respiration 6O2 + C6H12O6 =  6H2O + 6CO2 + energy (ATP)

Photsyntheis uses ENERGY Photsynthesis Sunlight energy + 6CO2 + 6H2O = 6O2 + C6H12O6 Photsyntheis uses ENERGY Cellular Respiration 6O2 + C6H12O6 =  6H2O + 6CO2 + energy (ATP) Cellular Respiration releases ENERGY

Photsyntheis uses CARBON DIOXIDE Photsynthesis Sunlight energy + 6CO2 + 6H2O = 6O2 + C6H12O6 Photsyntheis uses CARBON DIOXIDE Cellular Respiration 6O2 + C6H12O6 =  6H2O + 6CO2 + energy (ATP) Cellular Respiration gives off CARBON DIOXIDE

Photosynthesis uses WATER Photsynthesis Sunlight energy + 6CO2 + 6H2O = 6O2 + C6H12O6 Photosynthesis uses WATER Cellular Respiration 6O2 + C6H12O6 =  6H2O + 6CO2 + energy (ATP) Cellular Respiration gives off WATER

Photosynthesis gives off OXYGEN Photsynthesis Sunlight energy + 6CO2 + 6H2O = 6O2 + C6H12O6 Photosynthesis gives off OXYGEN Cellular Respiration 6O2 + C6H12O6 =  6H2O + 6CO2 + energy (ATP) Cellular Respiration uses OXYGEN

Photosynthesis creates GLUCOSE (carbohydrates/food) Photsynthesis Sunlight energy + 6CO2 + 6H2O = 6O2 + C6H12O6 Photosynthesis creates GLUCOSE (carbohydrates/food) Cellular Respiration 6O2 + C6H12O6 =  6H2O + 6CO2 + energy (ATP) Cellular Respiration uses GLUCOSE (carbohydrates/food)
