Deciduous Forests By: Garrett, Kenneth, Crystal, and Michael

Interesting Facts Leaves of many colors before they drop are called deciduous leaves. Toads, salamanders and snakes also live on the forest floor.

Temperatures Amounts of sunlight Earth gets at different times of the year cause changes of season in deciduous forest. During the winter temperatures drop below freezing. Warm temperatures in the spring and the summer allow plants to grow and bloom.

Layers Several layers of plants can be found in deciduous forests. Deciduous forests let enough sunlight get through the canopy to allow a layer of small trees and shrubs to grow. The different layers of plants provide a variety of habitats for animals.

Location Every continent, except Africa and Antarctica, has deciduous forests. The forests in New England are famous for their autumn colors.
