Interpreting Graphs of Motion

This car is NOT moving at a constant speed! You can tell because the line is not straight.

The steepness of the line tells you how fast the object is moving. SLOWER FASTER The steeper the line, the faster the motion.

Portions of the line that are parallel to the X-axis show an object that is not moving. NOT MOVING

If the line slopes downward, the object is moving backwards. The object is moving backward here!

Figure out the Distance and Time for the part of the graph being asked about. Using the Graph to Calculate Distance = 55 km Time = 70 min. 55km 70min km/min. =
