Question: How does the amount of water a mouse drinks affect its weight? Procedure: Mouse cage Water bowl scale 1.Put a mouse in a cage with bowls for food and water. 2.Measure the amount of water put in bowl each morning and record. 3.Measure the amount of food put in bowl each morning and record. 4.Measure the amount of water left in bowl at end of day and record. 5.Measure the amount of food left in bowl at end of day and record. 6.Put mouse on scale and record weight at end of each day. 7.Repeat steps 2-6 each day for 30 days. 8.Repeat experiment with 3 other mice. 9.Compare amounts of water drank with changes in weight. food bowl

Mouse cage scale food bowl water bowl Same amount of water given to each mouse. Same amount of food given to each mouse. All same kind of mouse. Same scale used to weigh each mouse. Same kind of cage, bowls.

Mouse cage scale food bowl water bowl Yes. All mice getting same treatment. Measuring both amount of water drunk and mouse weight over long enough time.

Mouse cage scale food bowl water bowl Repeat the experiment with more mice. Reliability = Repeat

What experiment did you do?

Choose 2 different variables. Tell me what they are and what your experimental question is. Explain how you would do the experiment to answer it. Include labeled diagram.

Today’s task: DIY Plant Experiment, question 1 1.Complete task. Bring me labeled diagram sheet. 2.When done, take out Models & Human Impact and study questions 5 and 7 for tomorrow’s task.
