B RIEF H ISTORY OF L IONS Formed in 1917 in Chicago Founded by Melvin Jones In New Zealand, Lions began in 1955 Lions Clubs have Purposes and a Code of Ethics which we strive to live by

L IONS I NTERNATIONAL P URPOSES To foster a spirit of understanding amongst the peoples of the world To promote the principles of good citizenship To take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community

To unite Lion Clubs through friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding. To provide a forum for the discussion of all matters of public interest except politics and religion To encourage people to serve their community without financial reward To encourage high standards in public and private endeavours L IONS I NTERNATIONAL P URPOSES
