CONJUNCTIONS COORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS

A subordinating conjunction is a word which joins together a dependent clause and an independent clause. A dependent clause- It was raining and hence I took my umbrella. Independent clause — “I took my umbrella” Because it was raining I took a umbrella(subordinating conjunction) NOTE:TEACH THE FORMATION OF SUBORDINATE CONJUNCTIONS TO THE KID.

FUNCTION 1: It gives a change between the two ideas in the sentence. This change will indicate a time, place, or cause and effect relationship. here are some examples: We looked on top of the refrigerator, where jenny will often hide a bag of chocolate chip cookies. The subordinate conjunction has two functions NOTE:TEACH THE FUNCTIONS OF SUBORDINATE CONJUNCTIONS TO THE KID.

FUNCTION2: In this particular function a clause is given more important. The less importance is given to the clause introduced by the subordinate conjunction. I live in India for the past 10 years. I am not familiar with most of the places although I have been living here for long. I live in India because my husband works here. As I mentioned earlier I am still unfamiliar with the places here and hence I find it quite tough to live here even after 10 years. I want to be familiar with India before I leave for France.
