Niyyat –“I am wearing Ihram of Umra-e-Tamattu for the Hajjatul- Islam wajib qurbatan Ilallah.” Talbiyyah After wearing Ihram and doing niyyat it is wajib to repeat these sentences.

Umra-e-Tamattu – Step 1 Ihram-Forbidden Things Sex & Marriage –Sexual relationship –To marry –Mastrubation Dress, Ornaments& Cosmetics –Smelling of perfume –Use of cosmetics –Looking in a mirror –Wearing a ring for beauty –Women wearing jewelry –Massaging oil on body –Covering one’s face with cloth –Wearing shoes,sandals, socks. –Shading one’s head while walking during daytime Protecting the body, animals & environment –Pulling one’s hair or shaving –Cutting nails –Causing blood to come out of body –Pulling the teeth –Hunting –Carry arms and ammunition –Killing insects on one’s body or dress –Pulling out tree or grass which grows in haram  Social behaviour –Fusuq e.g. lying, quarelling, boasting –Swearing in the name of Allah

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Umra-e-Tamattu – Step 2 Tawaf – Obligatory Acts Taharat and Wudu. Niyyat Start from and end at the location of Hajr Aswad. Keep your left shoulder towards Kaabah at all times. Stay between the area of Kaabah and Maqam-e-Ibrahim. Include Hijr-e-Ismail in your tawaf. Complete 7 rounds of tawaf.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Umra-e-Tamattu – Step 3 Salat-e-Tawaf Should be offered immediately after Tawaf at Maqaam-e- Ibrahim. Niyyat “I am offering Salat-e-Tawaf of Umra-e-Tamattu for Hajjatul Islam wajib qurbatan ilallah” Pray 2 rakat namaz. Method is same as Salat-e-Fajr. The namaz should be offered in correct Arabic pronunciation and prescribed rules of salat. Prior to leaving for Hajj, make sure you pray correctly.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Umra-e-Tamattu – Step 4 Saee After namaz-e-tawaf and before Saee, it is mustahhab to kiss Hajr-e-Aswad and drink Zam Zam Water. Walk quickly between Safa and Marwah 7 times, one after another with no break. Start from Safa and end at Marwah. Walk straight facing your destination. Mustahab to do Harwala. Mustahab to perform Saee in the state of wudu and taharat.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Umra-e-Tamattu - Step 5 Taqseer Cut your nails or hair of head or beard. Taqseer can be done personally or someone who is not in state of Ihram. Niyyat “I am doing taqseer for Umra-e-Tamattu of Hajjatul Islam wajib qurbatan ilallah”. Taqseer can be done immediately after Saee or anywhere else afterwards. Women while doing taqseer should hide their hair from Namahram.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Umra-e-Tamattu Complete After Taqseer your Umra-e-Tamattu is complete. Prepare for the next part of Hajjatul Islam, Hajj-e-Tamattu. – Now you are out of condition of Ihram. –Not allowed to exit out of Mecca before completing Hajj-e-Tamattu.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Hajj-e-Tamattu - Step 1 – 8 th Ihram Wear Ihram any where in Mecca. It is mustahab to wear it after Zuhr on Yaum-e- Tarwiah (8 th Zilhajjah). Method and rules are same as mentioned in Umra-e-Tamattu except the niyyat will be for Hajj-e-Tamattu of Hajjatul Islam.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 2 – 9 th Arafat Staying in Arafat is Wajib from midday (zawal) of 9 th till sunset(maghrib). It is mustahab to remain in state of wudu and taharat. Pray Zuhr and Asr combined with one azan and 2 iqamat at its prime time. Recite recommended duas.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 3 –9 th –10 th Muzdalifah This place is known as Mashar al haram. Proceed from Arafat to Muzdalifah after magrib on 9 th Zilhajjah and spend the night here. It is Wajib to stay in Muzdalifah from dawn (Fajr) to Sunrise of 10 th Zilhajj (Eid-ul-Adha). Recite recommended duas and salawat. Recommended to collect 70 pebbles for stoning shaitan.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 4 – 10 th Mina – Rami Al-Gamrah Proceed from Muzdalifah to Mina after sunrise on 10 th Zilhajjah. Make Niyyat before hitting. Hit Gamra al Aqaba continuously one pebble at a time, till at least 7 pebbles hit the shaitan directly. Must use fresh pebbles. Timing is from sunrise to sunset of 10 th Zilhajjah.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 5 – 10 th Mina - Sacrifice Sacrifice one prescribed animal. Complete before sunset of 10 th zilhajjah. Recommended to sacrifice personally Allowed to assign any trustworthy momin especially for ladies.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Make your niyyat. Men should shave their head or cut some of their hair. But if it is their first Hajj, shaving is preferable.* Women should cut some of their hair. Someone in the state of Ihram should not cut your hair. After shaving all forbidden things in Ihram will become halal except marital relations and smelling fragrance. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 6 – 10 th Halq or Taqseer

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. After Aamal of Mina proceed to Mecca. Perform Tawaf. Rules are the same as in Umra-e-Tamattu except the Niyyat will be for Hajj-e- Tamattu. It is recommended to complete the Tawaf on 10 th Zilhijjah. Alternately you are allowed to complete it later. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 7 – 10 th – 13 th Tawaf

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Offer Salat-e-Tawaf immediately after Tawaf. The method is the same as mentioned earlier except the niyyat will be for Salat -e-Tawaf of Hajj-e-Tamattu. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 8 – 11 th – 13 th Salat-e-Tawaf

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Perform Saee the same way as you did in Umra-e-Tamattu except the Niyyat will be Hajj-e-Tamattu. Smelling of fragrance will become halal after completing Saee. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 9 – 10 th –13 th Saee

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 10 – 10 th –13 th Tawaf-an-Nisa After Saee perform Tawaf-an- Nisa for Hajj-e-Tamuttu. Method of Tawaf will be same as before. If men does not perform this tawaf his wife will not be halal for him and vice versa. Children cannot get married if they miss this tawaf.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 11 – 10 th –13 th Salat Tawaf-an-Nisa Perform salat Tawaf-an- Nisa with the same conditions as mentioned earlier. After this salat husband and wife will become halal for each other and will get completely out of the state of Ihram.

Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step 12 – Eve of 11 th &12 th Mabeet in Mina Spend the eve of 11 th and 12 th with the intention of staying in Mina as a part of Hajj-e- Tamattu of Hajjatul Islam. The time is from Maghrib to Midnight of each night. Anyone who remains in Mina until sunset of 12 th he should spend one more night. If you miss this part of Hajj you have to give kaffarah.

Hajj-e-Tamattu – Step th &12 th Hitting all Three Shaitan Hit all three shaitan on 11 th and 12 th of Zilhajjah with the same conditions as mentioned earlier. 7 pebbles should hit each shaitan every day (Not at night). Should start with Gamrah Ula (First Shaitan) then Gamrah Wusta (Middle Shaitan) and Gamrah Aqaba (Last Shaitan). If you change the order you have to start over again. If someone stayed over in Mina until sunset he should repeat this act on the 13 th.

(c)2003 Al-Ilm Foundation Inc. Congratulations! After hitting all three Shaitans you can exit Mina but NOT BEFORE ZUHR of 12 th Zilhijjah. May Allah accept your Hajj and grant you opportunity to perform Hajj again. Please remember us in your duas!
