Igneous Rock Formed from magma or lava after it cools Intrusive ◦Cooling is slow beneath Earth’s surface ◦Large mineral crystals Extrusive ◦Cooling fast.
Rocks. Igneous Rock Origin: Magma from within the Earth cools to form igneous rock. Extrusive: Magma that reaches the surface, becomes lava and cools.

Rocks

3 types of rock Igneous Metamorphic Sedimentary

Igneous Form when molten rock (magma) cools and hardens. Intrusive: If the magma cools SLOWLY & INSIDE Earth (beneath Earth’s surface). – Will have LARGE crystals Extrusive: If magma cools RAPIDLY & EXITED the Earth (on Earth’s surface). – Will have SMALL crystals Igneous like Ice cream

Igneous How Igneous Rocks Form

Metamorphic Forms when rocks are changed (morphed) into diff. kinds of rocks. Done by great heat and/or pressure. They are heated, squeezed, folded, or chemically changed by contact with hot fluids. Metamorphic… like Marbled brownies or a morphed butterfly

Metamorphic

Sedimentary Form from compaction and/or cementation of rock pieces, mineral grains, or shell fragments called sediments. Sediments form thru processes of weathering and erosion of rocks exposed at Earth’s surface. Sedimentary rocks can also form from chemical depositing of materials that were once dissolved in water. Sedimentary… like Sandwich layers

Sedimentary
