THE BURREN By Conor, Lochlan, Marykate, and Luca The Burren is a karst landscape, this means it is an area of exposed limestone.
THE BURREN The Burren was formed by the sea level dropping and exposing the limestone underneath.
Ailwee caves The ailwee caves were formed by water mixing with carbon in the rocks to make carbonic acid which slowly dissolves the rocks. It was founded by a farmer in 1944 but he didn’t tell anyone until 1973.
Rare Plants and Animals. The Burren is famous for all different types of rare plants and animals some examples are pine marten,pearl-bordered- fritillary and the brown hairstreak. Examples of plants are the fly orchid,mountain avens and the birds foot trefoil animalsplants
Agriculture Agriculture is a big part of the burren. The livestock go upland in the winter and lowland in the summer.
Coastline The Cliffs of Moher is a very famous place along the coast of Clare in the Burren. It also has Hags head and O’Briens tower.
