About Mali Mali is named after empire Mali located in modern day Guinea. Its official name is Republic of Mali. The founder of Mali is Sundjala a magician.

Religion and Language Religion: Mostly Muslim (90%) Christian (1%) and Indigenous beliefs: (9%). Language: French (official languages), Bambara 80%, numerous African languages.  Church
